Dems Surrender on $1.3 Trillion Spending Spree... What's Next?

But watch to see what other tricks they have up their sleeves!

On Thursday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) officially withdrew the nearly 2,000 page Omnibus spending bill that was introduced on Tuesday and caused such an uproar for it's spending and earmarks. That bill is now officially dead but Congress must pass a resolution allowing the government to continue operating after funding authorities expire on Saturday.

Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell introduced the following one page resolution which will allow the government to continue operating until the new Congress can be seated in January and give fuller consideration to an appropriate spending bill.

Mitch McConnell's One Page Continuing Resolution

No word on whether Democrats will accept McConnell's alternative.

Thanks McConnell!

Senator McConnell has been extraordinarily successful in uniting GOP members of the Senate and helping them to realize that in unity, they have power. If each were to go his own way, they would never succeed. On a whole range of key issues the GOP in the Senate has remained a potent force despite their few numbers. The GOP Leader deserves our thanks for all the work he has done during the past two years!
