Obama Flip Flops on Super Pacs Just As He Did on Public Financing of Campaigns

The guy who denounced GOP Super Pacs will now put muscle behind Dem Super Pacs!

It was two years ago at the State of the Union Address where President attacked the Supreme Court for their decision in the Citizens United case which opened the door to the creation of Super Pacs. With six members of the Supreme Court sitting directly in front of him Obama made the unprecedented attack on the court's decision saying "I don't think American elections should be bankrolled by America's most powerful interests or, worse, by foreign entities."

Obama picked up the theme again in a Weekly Radio Address later in the year where used the issue to attack Republicans:
OBAMA: This can only mean that the leaders of the other party want to keep the public in the dark. They don’t want you to know which interests are paying for the ads. The only people who don’t want to disclose the truth are people with something to hide.

Well, we cannot allow the corporate takeover of our democracy. So we’re going to continue to fight for reform and transparency. And I urge all of you to take up the same fight. Let’s challenge every elected official who benefits from these ads to defend this practice or join us in stopping it.
Never mind that Democrats have used their advantage with big labor unions to finance special interest campaigns for years. Republicans found a way to level the playing field and Obama didn't like it.

So, like his solemn pledge to stick to public financing of the 2008 presidential election, Obama flip flopped again and is going all out for the same secret, big money Super Pacs that he earlier condemned. What a surprise! And once again, Dems blame Republicans for the decision. Campaign aides said: “ The money raised and spent by Republican super PACs is very telling. We will not unilaterally disarm."

Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) who had vowed to hold Senate hearings to expose "evil" Super Pacs hasn't stated whether he intends to proceed now that Obama is backing what the President himself called a "threat to democracy."

Obama shows again that he has no core set of principles. Only an ever shifting set of talking points. The only thing he believes in is power and retaining office!
